This will be the last weekly log prior to our departure in a few days, but we will occasionally update the Projects & Upgrades page with more information as time goes on in our travels when boat work is done. This week has consisted mostly of normal chores that needed to be done prior to departure and we’ve had lots of family members come into town to visit as well. The Bon Voyage party is set for day after tomorrow on the 6th so be sure to check out the Ship’s Log in a week or so to see how it went. As we travel we will continue to update the Ship’s Log when internet service becomes available, mostly through internet cafes.
Fender Board - Our friend Bill came over and donated a beautiful mahogany fender board. We’ll be sure to put it to good use. Fender Holders - One of the issues we needed to tackle before leaving was what to do with our six fenders while underway. We ended up purchasing a pair of fender holders, one for each side of the boat. Each holds two fenders so the remaining two will be lashed somewhere on deck. David’s Family Visit - David’s parents, grandmother and uncle all came into town to visit. It was great to see them all again. Damon’s Family Visit - My parents, grandmother and my twin brother with his family all came in to see us off. I was really surprised that they made the trip and have enjoyed visiting with them. We took a harbor cruise on Thursday and since we were out there I took advantage of the time and calibrated the autopilot again. Last Minute Errands - Some of the last minute errands this week have included getting laundry done, provisioning with perishables such as fresh fruits and vegetables, setting up mail forwarding service and so on. We had planned on getting all the projects out of the way before this week so we’ld have more time to visit with family and it worked out great. |
