Fuel Guage

Bruadair did not have any means available to check the fuel level in her 80 gallon tank. There was no gauge nor was there an access port to check the level with a wooden dowel. We installed a Tempo fuel sending unit into the tank, carefully drilling a hole for the sending unit, plus drilling and tapping 5 holes for the mounting screws. The gauge it self was mounted by the engine instrument panel, and wiring was pretty straight forward. A one day project with out a hitch (knock on wood). Because of the shape of our fuel tank, we know that the gauge won’t be 100 percent accurate, and we’ll find out next week when we fill up. Currently the gauge is reading 1/4 empty, so I’ll have to compare that to the amount of diesel we take on. Hopefully it’s not too far off. Either way, I feel much better having an idea of how much diesel we have in the tank.
